HEADSHIP AND SENIOR MANAGEMENT
The Principal of S. Peter’s Collegiate School is the Headteacher. In reflection of the wider role of the school as a member of the Lichfield Foundation, the Principal and Leadership Team also relate in collaborative partnership with The King’s School and the Co-ordinator of the Lichfield Foundation. The Leadership Team includes one Vice Principal, and three Assistant Principals in a peer relationship.STRATEGIC PLANNING
An inter-related pattern of meetings ensures the coherence of strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation. In particular, the monitoring and evaluation of whole-school development is communicated and reported through the Senior Tutor Forum.THE ROLE OF SENIOR MANAGEMENT
DEPARTMENTS
Managerial oversight of departments at S. Peter’s Collegiate School will include the attachment of members of the Leadership Team to each department. They will be offered the opportunity to attend all departmental meetings as appropriate:
- to support departmental development, with particular reference to the implementation and monitoring of Self Review processes, the Departmental Development Plan together with a detailed analysis of exam results, educational outcomes, learning and teaching and departmental key performance indicators
- to assist the subject leaders in the formulation and monitoring of financial matters and resource deployment relating to the department (Spring Term)
- to support the subject leaders and all departmental personnel in terms of informal mentoring, personnel review, performance management and professional development (Summer and Autumn Term)
- to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning by a range of appropriate approaches, including classroom observations (All year)
PASTORAL CARE
The Associate Principal, Mr. Richards, is responsible to the Principal for day-to-day oversight of the well being and progress of all pupils of the School. In addition, he exercises direct oversight of the School’s Guidance & Inclusion team.
PERSONNEL
The Principal is directly responsible for personnel. This extends to performance monitoring and professional development review. Mr Walters has oversight school-based inset and all members of the Leadership Team have responsibility for Staff Development and training issues as part of their line management accountability. The forum for discussion of staff development issues is the Curriculum Leaders Forum. Mr. Fowler also has responsibility for ITT Students. Mr. Morgan has responsibility for NQTs.
The approach to personnel issues is to be maintained in line with our commitment to the principles and practice of the “Investors in People” handbook. Mr. Bishop is accountable for the maintenance of a professional approach to conditions of serAssociate including any serious breaches of staff discipline. Colleagues seeking new / promoted appointments should discuss this with the Principal and use his name as their school referee.
The line management structure for Associate Staff is also incorporated within the School Management chart. The School Business Director is a full member of the Leadership Team and the Directors of Learning Forum, the wider leadership and management group of the school.
PREMISES
The Leadership Team has a monitoring responsibility for oversight of the effectiveness of the learning environment, with each department, form mentor and class teacher, directly responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a positive and stimulating atmosphere within and around the school.
The Site Supervisor, Mrs. Whitfield, is responsible to the Principal for the day to day safety and maintenance of the premises and the school site. The post holder, irrespective of the fact that she is currently a governor, is a participant observer on the Governors’ Buildings and Sites Sub-Committee. She works alongside Mr Cook in his role as Governor Support Officer in initiating and monitoring agreed developments to the premises and grounds, including responsibility for the monitoring of grounds maintenance and all issues of Health and Safety.
CURRICULUM
Strategic planning for the development of the curriculum and associated staffing, premises and resource requirements is the overall responsibility of the Principal, managed on a daily basis by Assistant Principal Mr Cooke and monitored through the Governors Curriculum Sub-Committee.
Directors of Learning clearly have an important monitoring and evaluative role which is contained in their generic Job Descriptions, which may be customised to reflect specific departmental circumstances.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Associate/Assistant Principals are responsible for all educational surveys, pro-formas and returns required by DCSF, LA, Diocese and other appropriate bodies.
Guidance and Inclusion
The team of staff responsible for the planning and delivery of the PSHCE/Christian Living Course and responsibility for equal opportunities issues throughout the school is co-ordinated and led by Mrs. Sanford who is also Child Protection Officer.
The team of Guidance & Inclusion Leaders has a very important role in supporting and monitoring pupil welfare, conduct and progress. They have a legitimate interest in the work of departments and may, through identification of problems in curricular time, consult with Directors of Learning in their role as line managers for departmental staff. Similarly, they may make requirements of colleagues in terms of agreed approaches to individual pupils experiencing difficulty.
It is the responsibility of all colleagues to play an active role in the pastoral care of pupils at all times.
The role of the Guidance & Inclusion Leader is a pro-active and positive function in monitoring the effectiveness of academic and pastoral systems of S. Peter’s School. The responsibility for co-ordinating student’s Progress File activities lies with Mr Bryett .
INDIVIDUAL ROLES OF THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
Revd.H Bishop - Principal

Mr A Richards - Associate Principal
The Associate Principal, Mr. Richards, is responsible to the Principal for day-to-day oversight of the well being and progress of all pupils of the School. In addition, he exercises direct oversight of the School’s Guidance & Inclusion team.
As Associate Principal Mr Richards, will:
- deputise for the Principal in his absence from the school site
- have oversight of the production of the School Development Plan and subsequent formal Review;
- chair the Curriculum Leaders Forum.
- co-ordinate arrangements for premises improvements as they relate to the curriculum;
- establish and monitor the grounds maintenance programme for the Compton Park site, operating on behalf of both S. Peter’s and St. Edmund’s Schools;
- alongside the Site Supervisor and Governors Support Officer, play a leading role in any development of the premises and grounds of S. Peter’s School.
- be the Educational Visits Co-ordinator and approve all proposed visits working with Miss Woolley as the Educational Visits Manager.
Mr D Cooke - Assistant Principal
Strategic planning for the development of the curriculum and associated staffing, premises and resource requirements is the overall responsibility of the Principal, managed on a daily basis by Assistant Principal Mr Cooke and monitored through the Governors Curriculum Sub-Committee.
Mr. Cooke, as Specialist Schools Director, co-ordinates:
- the establishment, delivery and evaluation of the school timetable.
- effective progress towards Technology College status, Applied Learning specialist status including Community Funding targets. This also includes acting as Convener and Chair of all Specialist School consultative committees.
- the oversight and mapping of cross-curricular issues in liaison with other colleagues.
- In liaison with Mr Walters and the Data Manager, to contribute to effective systems to allow settling procedures, and set lists to be drawn up and the dissemination and analysis of student achievement data across the school.
- the completion of PLASC in liaison with other appropriate colleagues.
- All activities involved in the management of SIMS.
Mr S Walters - Assistant Principal
As Assistant Principal (Teaching and Learning), Mr Walters will:
- be responsible for the school’s responses to the national target setting process, liaising with subject leaders and LA Officers as appropriate.
- take responsibility with Mr. Cooke, and in liaison with Guidance and Inclusion Leaders, Form Mentors and subject teachers for the efficient organisation and administration of student target setting and reporting arrangements to parents.
- be responsible with Mr. Cooke for setting procedures, set lists and be the lead Assistant Principal for organising, disseminating and analysing student achievement data across the school.
- have line management oversight of Leading Edge and Lichfield Foundation activities.
- be responsible for the school’s Self Review systems including the monitoring of the Gifted & Talented co-ordinator and lead teacher.
- be responsible for setting procedures, set lists and organising, disseminating and analysing student achievement data across the school
Mrs M-T Rollins - Assistant Principal
As Assistant Principal and Director of Sixth Form Studies, Mrs Rollins has day to day responsibility for the Sixth Form students exercising leadership of the management and form mentor teams with direct responsibility to the Principal for all major matters of welfare and progress of Sixth Form students. Liaison with St. Edmund’s School and Wolverhampton Girls’ High School is a particular feature of this post. This includes effective entry procedures, induction from year eleven and guidance into post sixth-form education and employment.
As Deputy Director of Sixth Form, Mrs. Roberts-Thomas will deputise for the Director of 6th Form as appropriate, have the usual responsibilities of Guidance & Inclusion Leader in relation to both years 12 and 13, and other agreed duties commensurate with the seniority of the position.
Mrs C Wilkinson - Business Manager
As Business Director, Mrs Wilkinson will;
- be responsible for the overall management of all associate staff serAssociates as outlined in the staff structure
- manage the school’s budget and financial affairs as directed by the Principal
- represent the Principal as delegated at governor and local authority meetings
- co-ordinate all admissions procedures within The Lichfield Foundation
- be a pro-active partner within the Lichfield Foundation management team.
