Cross-country success

S. Peter’s pupils put in some dominating performances at the first Cross-Country meeting of the year at Aldersley Stadium. An amazing 70 pupils, from across all year groups, represented the school and following many outstanding performances twenty S.Peter’s pupils were selected to represent Wolverhampton at the West Midlands Schools Cross-Country on Saturday 17th October.

A special mention must go to pupils who won medals at the city race: Dayo Ilori (Year 7 Gold), Leo Tonks (Year 7 – Bronze), Matt Hogg (Year 10/11 – Gold), Harry Dyall (Year 10/11 – Silver), Peter Taylor (Year 10/11 – Bronze), Bethan Dyall (Year 7 – Silver), Amelia Samuels (Year 10/11 – Gold), Zoe Brickley (Year 10/11 – Silver) and Lucy Evans (Year 10/11 – Bronze).

The year 10/11 were particularly impressive, not only picking up Gold, Silver and Bronze, but 9 out of the first 10 finishers were S. Peter’s pupils. The conduct, sportsmanship, team spirit and support throughout the team was excellent.  All runners were a real credit to the school.

Further congratulations to Matt Hogg who won the Inter Boys race at the West Midlands event. Harry Dyall finished 5th in the same race. Amelia Samuels was narrowly out sprinted to second place in the girls race, finishing third and was closely followed by Lucy Evans in 8th and Zoe Brickley in 13th. All of these runners have now qualified to represent the West Midlands in the Inter-counties race later in the year. Leo Tonks and Bethan Dyall (Year 7) both had fantastic runs in the Junior races and also qualified to represent the county.

We incredibly proud of our whole cross-country team and still looking to recruit new runners. A reminder that cross-country club is on every Wednesday lunch time.
