JSLA

The Junior Sports Leader Award is designed to provide a starting point for young people (14 & over) who wish to develop their sports leadership skills.

CONTENT
The course is divided into two modules. Module A is delivered first, covering the fundamental areas of basic sports leadership, which will enable them to deliver the requirements of module B.
 


Module A (sections)

  1. Organisation skills
  2. Communication skills
  3. Health and Fitness
  4. Role of the official
  5. Fair play in Sport
  6. Opportunities in Sport and Recreation

Module B
JSLA pupils to lead a sporting or recreational activity for a minimum of 1 hour, for which they will be the sole planner and organiser.

For the year 2004/2005, 51 pupils at S.Peter's achieved their Junior Sports Leader Award.

CSLA

The Community Sports Leader Award is a training course designed to give pupils who are 16 and over the skills required to lead groups in a safe sporting and recreational activity.

CONTENT
Candidates must complete all eight units of work, plus the undertaking of 10 hours Voluntary Leadership Experience to the satisfaction of the Course Director in order to gain the Community Sorts Leader Award.

The eight units of work are:

  1. Organisational Skills
  2. Safety in Sport
  3. Know Your Friends
  4. Fitness sessions for Sport
  5. Events and Competitions
  6. Improvisation and Adapted Games
  7. Games and Activity Experience
  8. Ten Hours Voluntary Leadership Experience

For the year 2004/2005, 26 pupils at S.Peter's achieved their Community Sports Leader Award.
